Behavioral Weight Loss
Behavioral Weight Loss Treatment in Greenwich, Darien, Westport, Westchester, and Surrounding Areas in Connecticut and New York
At Sala Psychology, we understand that achieving and maintaining a healthy weight involves more than just counting calories. We provide CBT for weight loss, or behavioral weight loss. We also incorporate mindfulness and acceptance strategies in our approach.
We will work with you to seat achievable goals and track progress. We will also explore factors that may have contributed to weight gain and unsuccessful weight loss attempts. We will work together to develop healthier eating habits, find enjoyable ways to incorporate exercise into your lifestyle, and change unhelpful thought patterns. We take a holistic approach, and consider factors that may play a role in weight gain, including anxiety, depression, stress, work, and family.
Who do you work with and what is your approach?
We work with individuals experiencing negative consequences of being overweight or obese. We have training in the most current, evidence-based methods for promoting healthy lifestyle changes and weight loss. Our approach is behavioral, and we incorporate mindfulness and acceptance-based strategies. We set clear eating and exercise goals and monitor these behaviors. We will teach you psychological strategies to help you meet and maintain your goals.
How much weight can I expect to lose?
Research has shown that behavioral weight loss therapy can help you lose about 10% of your body weight. However, this is just an average - some people lose a lot more, and some people lose less.
